Ongoing Report From India
SANNYASIN

Peace and Good in Christ!

Sannyasin take up a strict life of renunciation to be totally free of the desires of this world. Some, like this one, wander living on alms. Others, sometimes called Sadhus, settle down and disciples gather around them forming ashrams, or communities.

What distinguishes an ashram from a simple community, like Auroville, is the idea of ritual prayers and meditation at certain times of the day. Some are communal, and some are practiced in solitude, like at Shantivanam. This is the second Sannyasin I saw on my journeys here in India. The first was at Auroville.

Hey Brother:

Was actually looking for some tablature for Advent Suite to use with our music ministry and stumbled across your blog. Sounds like quite a journey you are on. Our prayers are with you. Have a safe return.

Peace,

Chris
